Biography

Zinnia is a digital editor and journalist with a multi-disciplinary background. She has a demonstrated history of working internationally in diverse fields, including media; international development; humanitarian aid; and human rights. As a former strategic communications officer for the United Nations, she highlighted issues of gender inequality in the provision of rehabilitation aid to Internally Displaced Persons in Pakistan. She has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Columbia University – dual specializing in technology and media, as well as gender and social inclusion, in public policy. Her areas of expertise include intersectional issues in healthcare; gender mainstreaming; social inclusion in policy making; global sustainability frameworks; US current affairs; as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion practices to enhance inclusion in teams and workplaces. As a Pakistani and a Muslim, she is passionate about better representation in media for South Asians, women of color, and muslim women. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
