Biography
Scott Wong is a veteran reporter on Capitol Hill, and has been a senior congressional reporter at NBC News since 2022. He previously reported on Congress for Politico and The Hill. He has covered five House speakers, two Donald Trump impeachments, countless legislative battles and leadership fights, and reported from inside the Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack.
He got his professional start in journalism covering local government for two small newspapers in his native San Francisco Bay Area. He later wrote for The Arizona Republic, including stints covering the statehouse and Phoenix City Hall.
Wong graduated from UCLA, where he wrote for the student newspaper, The Daily Bruin, and is a longtime member of the Asian American Journalists Association. He lives with his wife and three children in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.
