Biography

Niala Boodhoo is the Host and Editor of Axios Today, a 10-minute daily news podcast from Axios that is pioneering smart brevity in audio format. Previously, she was a Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellow at the University of the Michigan, as well as the Founding Host and Executive Producer of The 21st, a Public Media Journalists Association award-winning, statewide public radio talk show for Illinois.

Boodhoo had been a journalist since 2000 for Reuters, The Miami Herald, WBEZ, and Illinois Public Media. She is an emeritus board member of The Asian American Journalists Association, also having previously served as the organization’s national vice-president.

She currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for her undergraduate alma mater, Calvin University. She also has a Master’s of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, and a M.A. in Latin American/Caribbean Studies from Florida International University’s Latin American and Caribbean Center.
